About Ambrotype Visuals

There is an art to machinery, a depth throughout nature, and an awe within the man-made; you only need to look at it in the right way.

Here you will find images that are emotively bold, artistically striking, and thematically prominent, connecting you to the familiar in brand new ways through a unique perspective. Thank you for sharing my way of viewing the railroad and the world. I hope you enjoy the resulting images and the thoughts they provoke as much as I do.

Craig S. Glass began AmbrotypeVisuals.com in 2022 after a lifelong interest in the railroad led him to realize that he had a ready-made digital photography portfolio. Encouraged by family, peers, and even railroad crew themselves, he learned editing skills and self-describes his work as “Where Fine Art Meets the Rails”, promoting the intersection of artistic presentation with heavy machinery. More recently, his portfolio has been enhanced by the beauty of architecture, landscapes, nature, and more all around his adopted South Carolina, especially the University of South Carolina, his native metro area of Chicago, and beyond. Under the moniker Ambrotype Visuals, his images have received awards and recognition from contests and galleries in multiple states, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, and Smithsonian Magazine. Craig originally hails from Deerfield, IL and now resides in Columbia, SC.

A final note: AV edits photography using standard digital photo software and mobile applications but NEVER uses any A.I.!
